Purple Tree’s dual mission is to provide community-based employment opportunities to people with disabilities at competitive wages and to bring people with and without disabilities together through food, art, and music. We currently fulfill that mission by employing people with disabilities to make and sell tea and vegan and wheat-free baked goods at the Davis Farmers Market and other community and private events.
We also host the Davis Hootenanny, a local music event series featuring performers with and without disabilities. The bicycle-powered coffee cart reflects the city’s reputation as one of the most bicycle-friendly cities in the country. Our goal is to establish a brick and mortar café to house employment and inclusive community making through art and music under one roof. It takes the whole team to make this mission a reality.
